Principals Welcome
“Welcome to our school website. At Kilnamona N.S., We aim to promote the full and harmonious development of our pupils in an environment that is inclusive and forgiving. Respect and tolerance are at the core of our interactions with each other, with the environment and with the community”.
We promote Digital Learning in our curricular work and offer our pupils many opportunities to engage in meaningful learning experiences online and outside the classroom. We encourage a very strong work ethic and look for the best in each child while helping with any difficulties that a pupil might experience along the way.
Our Special Education Teaching teamwork in a holistic manner, using multifaceted approaches to help our students to reach their full potential. We are very fortunate to have excellent facilities that include 2 very comfortable S.E.T. rooms, a Sensory Room and Sensory Circuits, indoor and outdoor, to this end.
Our classroom teachers bring a range of talents and interests that come together to make a vibrant , exciting learning environment for our pupils. Wellbeing is an integral part of school life and we work diligently to teach and to build resilience in our pupils.

School Structure
We are a co-educational school, located 8km northwest of Ennis, Co. Clare with a current enrolment of 85 pupils.
We have four mainstream class teachers, three S.E.T.s, one full-time and two shared with other schools.
We have a secretary and a caretaker.
Our classes are divided as follows:
Junior and Senior Infants
1st and 2nd classes
3rd and 4th classes
5th and 6th classes
We have one free classroom which we use as a General Purpose room. We enjoy doing Art and Drama in this room, we hold our choir practices and music Seisiúins here and have our weekly Assembly together.

At Kilnamona N.S., every pupil is important and every effort is made to make each child feel special. We endeavour to find the pupil's strengths and celebrate these. A respectful, caring atmosphere permeates the environment, which, coupled with learning in beautiful rural surroundings, is key to all children blossoming and reaching their full potential.

School History
Kilnamona N.S. has evolved through the ages with the original two classroom stone building in front, built in 1889. This was added to by the community in 1989 with the addition of 2 new classroom, toilets and a cloakroom. 2009 saw the most recent extensive and recent extension to date which resulted in a new classroom being built adjacent to two Special Education Teaching rooms, a store room, staff room, further toilets, an office, hallway and reception. Some of these areas have now been repurposed as our Sensory room and sensory circuit areas.
