Carmel Hegarty
Ms. Hegarty became Principal of Kilnamona in 2022. She teaches 5th and 6th class . Carmel promotes the use of technology and criticl thinking in a child-centred, dialogic classroom, where respect and tolerance are at its’ core. 5th and 6th enjoy playing and competing in a variety of sports and music , and partake in games of cards/chess at wet lunchtimes. They enjoy S.T.E.A.M., project work, Green Schools and many other initiatives to keep their minds and bodies active and enquiring.

Mairéad Vaughan
Ms. Vaughan is Deputy Principal and has worked in Kilnamona since September 2007. She teaches junior and senior infants. Mairead's grá for Gaeilge and creativity permeates her teaching. Her love of music and drama is evident in the Christmas Nativity Play. Her gentleness and kindness flow from her classroom into her students, who benefit from these lovely attributes, and learn to become caring, responsible students ready for the rest of their journey through Primary School.

Kate Daffy
Ms. Daffy started teaching in Kilnamona in 2021. She teaches 1st and 2nd class. Kate has an active, child centred classroom where every child’s voice is encouraged . Her pupils learn the tin whistle, enjoy using the use iPad's and have taken on the PickerPals initiative to keep our community litter free. Kate’s fantastic organisational skills and attention to detail are evident in everything she touches. She is very generous with the time she dedicates to her students , and to the many initaitives that the school undertakes.

Bláthnaid McCaw
Ms. McCaw started in Kilnamona in 2022. She is currently working as our Special Education Teacher. She is passionate about inclusivity and the holistic development of the child. Bláthnaid tirelessly advocates for the needs of all children who require any extra help and is relentless in her pursuit of tailored programmes for individual needs. Her energy and enthusiasm have resulted in the creation of some very special , safe areas for all our pupils ,who may require some extra help or calm or space, at any given time.

Éamonn Foudy
Mr. Foudy joined our staff, in a permanent capacity, having previousy covered a maternity leave , in November 2025. In addition to his evident love of Sport, especially hurling , Éamonn’s calm, organised and measured approach to all aspects of school life is welcomed by pupils and teachers alike. His warmth, sense of humour ,professional integrity and solution-focussed attitude is a fantastic asset to our team.

Colleen Harkin
Ms. Harkin, SNA , has been an integral part of school life in Kilnamona for many years. She is a terrific advocator for all pupils, particulary those who need the most help. Colleen has a habit of always being where someone needs her the most, with kind words and helpful hands. She is passionate about her work and we are blessed to have her with us .

Nuala Cotter
Our secretary Nuala Cotter started working in Kilnamona National School in 2012. Nuala is highly organised and efficient and always greets everyone with a smile, both pupils and staff alike. She works tirelessly in our office, keeping everyone and everything in order. When Nuala is off duty, you may find her walking her dogs!

Olga Keane
Olga joined our ancillary staff in her role as Cleaner / Caretaker in September 2024.
Olga also operates the AfterSchool Hub in the local Community Centre, with an option of Breakfast club, which provides a terrific service for the school community.
