Meet The Team

  • Carmel Hegarty

    Ms. Hegarty started in Kilnamona National School in October 2022. She is teaching the senior classes of 5th and 6th. Carmel promotes the use of ICT in a child centred, dialogic classroom where respect and tolerance are at its core.

  • Mairéad Vaughan

    Ms. Vaughan is our Deputy Principal and has worked in Kilnamona National School since September 2007. She currently teaches junior and senior infants. Mairead's grá for Gaeilge and her creativity permeates her teaching. Her love of music and drama was evident in the Christmas Nativity.

  • Mary McMahon

    Ms. McMahon is Kilnamona National School's longest serving staff member. She teaches 3rd and 4th class. Mary's classes get involved in all initiatives while maintaining a wonderful standard of literacy and numeracy.

  • Kate Daffy

    Ms. Daffy started teaching in Kilnamona National School in September 2021. She teaches 1st and 2nd class. Kate has an active, child centred classroom where every child has a voice. These pupils learn the tin whistle, use iPad's for their spellings4me programme and have taken on the PickerPals initiative to keep our community litter free.

  • Bláthnaid McCaw

    Ms. McCaw started in Kilnamona National School in September 2022. She is currently working as a Special Education Teacher. She is passionate about inclusivity and the holistic development of the child.

  • Colleen Harkin

    Ms. Harkin, SNA , has been an integral part of school life in Kilnamona for many years. She has a habit of always being where someone needs her the most, with kind words and helpful hands. She is passionate about her work and we are blessed to have her with us .

  • Nuala Cotter

    Our secretary Nuala Cotter started working in Kilnamona National School in 2012. Nuala is highly organised and efficient and always greets everyone with a smile, both pupils and staff alike. When Nuala is off duty, you may find her walking her dogs!

  • Margaret Mescall

    Our caretaker, Margaret has been taking care of the school and the school community for many years. She is always ready with a helping hand and a smile and nothing is ever too much trouble for her. She takes great pride in her work and that helps us to take great pride in our beautiful school.

  • Eamonn Foudy

    Mr. Eamonn Foudy is currently teaching the Infant classroom while Ms. Vaughan is on Maternity Leave. Eamonn has wonderful organisation skills which are evident in his busy, child-centred , active classroom. Eamonn is passionate about sport, in particular hurling. We are delighted to have him on our team, at the moment, in Kilnamona N.S.

  • Jean Kelly

    Ms Kelly replaces Ms McCaw in her role as Special Education Teacher, while she is on Maternity Leave. The S.E.T. role requires enthusiasm, energy and efficiency and Ms.Kelly relishes the challenges and sense of satisfaction that this role provides. Jean has over 20 years teaching experience and we are delighted to have her on our staff.
